Author Spotlight John P. Asling

We caught up with short story writer John P. Asling, to ask about their work, John's Books will be at The Pop-Up Bookshop on the 8th April at The Royal Albion Hotel, Broadstairs.

What inspires you?

In my reading and writing, it is words that go to the heart of the matter, that move the reader, change the reader, alarm the reader... Also, characters that have the capacity to become better - or worse, and plot that twist and turn yet stay real, rooted to a plausible reality.

What are you working on now?

I just published my first poetry collection "Love After Love Has Failed" so I am trying to tidy up my desk, polish a poem, go back to a memoir and expanding a short story... Stay tuned!

Tell us a bit about you.

I'm a transplanted Canadian, a former journalist and communications executive, who has written short fiction and poetry for many years. I have published two short story collections

(A Crack in Everything, and Time Enough for sadness) and my first poetry book was published this month, Love After Love Has failed.

You can read more on John's work here.
