Author Spotlight Emma Rosen

We are delighted to introduce author, Emma Rosen. An independent author, writing non-fiction and beautiful children's picture books. She is fascinated by early parenting and marine ecology, and loves supporting creative small businesses.

What inspires you?

I’m usually inspired by an idea that I feel should be more widely known about, my writing is generally about information. If I’m particularly interested or passionate in a topic then I want to share that fascination with others, whether that be an incredible habitat, a fact about a cool organism or elements of parenting that could be more widely understood. I suppose that as a natural ‘educator’ having worked as a science teacher for fifteen years, I just love sharing facts!

What are you currently working on?

Aside from continuing the ‘Discovering Marine and Coastal Habitats’ series with illustrator Rhiannon Thomas, which is part of an ongoing sponsorship from Natural England, I’m also working on my first fiction novel. It’s been a work in progress for a number of years, but I’m now working on developing a more complex and exciting plot, as well as fleshing out the characters and relationships.

Tell us a little about you.

I balance my time between writing and teaching. In my writing life, I work on children’s picture books and non-fiction for adults, particularly focussed around marine biology. I also have a YouTube channel where I share useful information for other writers and share aspects of my creative life. I offer author workshop in schools and consultancy for authors too. Outside of that, I’m a mum of three kids with two crazy dogs, so life is pretty busy. But I do find time for karate training, and I’m in a rock covers band.

Emma's newest book, "Captivating Kelp Forests" is out now, and we hope to have some copies for sale at the next Pop-Up on the 8Th April.
